Are All Options for the Aquasox Stadium Being Given Equal Consideration?

Updated: Dec 3, 2024

On Nov 12th 2024, the City of Everett held a public info session on the three options being considered with regards to accommodating the Aquasox.

This clip from King 5 news will bring you up to speed, if you haven't been closely following this story:

If you were there or have viewed the presentation slides uploaded by the city, you may have noticed that environmental impacts and the differences between the options are downplayed considerably compared to what is stated in the environmental impact study that we posted about a week ago.

While we eagerly await a detailed analysis of how each project might be funded and the expected return on investment, we can't help but wonder if the city administration is being biased in their presentation of the options to the public. It would certainly be exciting to have a shiny new multi-purpose arena in Everett, but are we hearing a realistic assessment of the impact to traffic, noise, parking, lighting, relocation or removal of many business and the decrease in tax revenue associated with that?

You can decide for yourself. Read more about the recently published Final Environmental Impact Statement here.
